Help! I'm new here and I need help. I just ordered some of Meguire's clay products to try to remove the spray overspray in the bed linen that was made by a local store. Anyway, I'm scared because painting work is only 7 days old and now it's overpray on it from a spray on the bed linen. He's even in the windshield. Is the clay product going to scratch the finish (Black of DuPont) or is it safe? The painting looked beautiful before this and I'm freaking out a bit. It seems that from the center of the cabin forward it has a thin fog of sap (if that makes sense) that I know it is poliethelyne. I tried a polish in a very unnoticed place and removes the overspray but I don't want to do this to a new finish. I was also told not to close the vehicle for 90 days which complicates the whole situation. Please help me. I don't want to get any worse. Why wouldn't you take him in the world and ask them to correct the mistake? "Wait for the People" Well, one reason is they wanted to use acetone to remove the overspray. I could be wrong, but I think this is probably the wrong approach. I guess if everything else fails, I'll take the vehicle back to my painting type and I'll cut it off, but I'll probably never go back to the store that made the bed linen, though they say they didn't do anything wrong. I just need to figure out what my options are at this point. Any advice on clay products is highly appreciated. Thank you. Hi. I'd talk to the store that painted your truck before I did something. They should be able to tell you the best to correct the problem. It may have happened before, so you know what to do. Good luck. KTruck As a thought, if the clay doesn't work, you can test a plastic shaver sheet with a little more quick detail as a lubricant to scrape off the overspray. I'd try it first in an unmovable part, but I think it could work faster than clay. All I'm worried about is that the spray in bed linen is so hard to get it could be a problem. Plastic shaver blades can be found in the claim to be safe to use on painted surfaces, but I do not take any responsibility for any damage. PlasticLater, Ricky. For major Meguiar agreements use Automatic Detailed Solutions Thanks for the help. I talked to my type of painting and he's going to repolish and rebuff the affected areas next week. Yesterday he took care of my windshields with a very fine steel wool and a cleaning window with alcohol and a newspaper. Needless to say, he was also a bit disturbed by what the spray on the bed line installers had done. So a word to the sages for all truck owners: Make the bed lining installed under the lanes before going to paint or be EXTRA very sure that the vehicle is recorded correctly before the lining is installed if you are doing it or a "professional" is installing it because this is an unpleasant experience. Maybe when I have everything arranged, I'll give you some pictures of the black beast of 92 1/2 ton. A Flowmaster 50 Series is scheduled for this Friday, so I and trying to remain an optomist that everything will end well. Thank you guys! I'm glad to hear things... A professional bed linen company would have taken the precaution to protect the overpray paint panels, especially if they knew that the truck was freshly painted, and even more especially if they know that the customer is a crazy and passionate car for their journey. Clay should work to remove any overspray of painted surfaces and glass, the machine buffing with a rotating buffer will also do the job, but will eliminate the painting at the same time. I am not going to make any judgments about your painter and polishing techniques, but you want to be aware that if a person was going to blow your fresh paint with the wrong products, they can eliminate a problem, (overpravity of bed linen), just to replace it with another problem, buffer swirls. The most common products used in the body shops for the paint of the cuffs are probably Meguiar's and another company with a 3 in its name along with wool pads and foam pads. Try to figure out what they're going to use and for the best possible finish, you need to take control of the situation and re-polate the whole finish using a double action polisher, one of our W-8006 foam pads and some of our #80 speed glaze that is specifically formulated with fresh paint in mind. Then, after 30 days, or what your painter recommends, apply a couple of layers of quality wax and then keep with a quality car wash, fast detaileders and subsequent polishing and wax applications as needed. Best luck... Mike. Mike Phillips Office: 800-869-3011 x206 "Find something you like and use it often" "Find something you like and use it often" There are currently 1 users browsing this thread.
